I can finally say that I feel
absolutely confident about my Inquiry blog and project. The long hours spent in
the library editing my inquiry paper and adjusting the layout of my blog were
of great use. I did, however, reach a
conclusion: It was much easier to write my paper than adjust to working a blog.
I really enjoyed writing this essay because I got to choose a topic I had great
interest for. Writing this paper really opened my eyes to look at U.S. politics
in various ways. I did not just observe my knowledge as a writer, but also as a
political science major. Seeing myself validly support a topic such as this
made me realize that I knew more about politics than I had expected. I also
realized that I began to approach writing using different strategies, rather
than just the standard way I was taught in high school. Every time I would
notice that I used a rhetorical strategy, I would point it out to myself. I
really focused on using logos, pathos, and ethos because we emphasized the use
of them in our paper during class discussions.
The
most frustrating thing about writing this paper was expressing my thoughts to
the audience. I put myself in their shoes, trying to answer any questions that
may cross their minds. I did, however, try to best explain my ideas and
elaborate on my implications. The great amount of research I did was very
helpful because it provided me with support to back up my argument. The
research I felt very proud of was the study I conducted myself through a survey
I put on a social network. This really brought me closer to my topic as well as
my audience. Overall, I feel that I succeeded my own expectations in writing
this argumentative paper. As for the blog, I did finally adjust to using
blogger’s format, but it took a lot of effort. I was really frustrated at first
because at that time I had no experience with blogging what so ever, but I
slowly figured it out. The assistance I had during class was very helpful in
exploring blogger. I also feel that it was a great way to organize my writing
into different pieces. I feel that my final blog piece is appealing and it
really expresses my personality. I will definitely keep it as a great source to
refer to when I observe my improvements as a writer. Lastly, I would like to
thank everyone who took the time to explore my writing…. :D
